SRHR Awareness Program in Isiolo county, Burat Ward

A Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) Awareness Program was conducted over three days in Kilimani Chief Camp, Burat Ward. The program aimed to educate and advocate for the rights and well-being of women, girls, and youth in the community, with a specific focus on addressing school dropouts due to early pregnancy among young girls.

Day 1: Kilimani Chief Camp
The program kicked off at Kilimani Chief Camp, where over 50 participants attended. Various topics related to SRHR were discussed, with a focus on the challenges faced by young girls leading to early pregnancies and subsequent school dropouts. Strategies to address these issues were highlighted, emphasizing the importance of education and support for pregnant students to continue their schooling.

Day 2: Odha Social Hall
On the second day, the awareness program moved to Odha Social Hall, attracting more than 60 attendees. The discussions delved deeper into the root causes of early pregnancies among girls and the societal stigmas attached to it. It was emphasized that education plays a crucial role in empowering girls and ensuring their reproductive health rights are protected.

Day 3: Wamy Primary School Kambi Garba location.
The final day of the program took place at Wamy Primary School, with a focus on engaging students directly. Over 40 women girls and youth participated in interactive sessions where the consequences of early pregnancies on education and future opportunities were discussed. The students were sensitized about the risks and challenges associated with early pregnancy, encouraging them to prioritize their education and well-being.

Outcome:
Through the SRHR Awareness Program, more than 150 women, girls, and youth were reached, creating a platform for open dialogue and education on sensitive issues related to reproductive health. By specifically addressing school dropouts due to early pregnancies, the program aimed to raise awareness and advocate for the rights of young girls to education and a brighter future.
